We’re not big on short time trends. We create timeless, high quality garments and accessories for our customers, exclusively made from the best fibers and yarns on the market available today. We source only the finest materials. The softest fibers make up the basis for creating longlasting and personal wearables you’ll love to wear for years to come. Our apparel is exclusively made from the most sustainable and functional materials on earth. Part of our collection is made out of organic blends with other fine fibers, creating smart collections. We only use 100% natural fabrics and yarns combined with Alpaca such as Vicuña, Merino Wool, Silk, Linen, Bambu and Pima Cotton.
We explored the full potential of these fibres, reaching out to high-end small producers open to new ideas, to co-create distinctive clothing lines. Guaranteed to offer you unique pieces of clothing and supplementary goods. We use finer, longer yarns that result in stronger, softer, better alpaca apparel. A difference you have to feel!
We are dedicated to changing the way people shop. Our customers are seeking an alternative to factory-made designs, they care about the environment and the humans behind their purchases and want to have a positive impact in the world. Our part is to create well-thought-through durable garments that are not intended to end up as waste within one season.
When fashion is done right, we all do well. You, us, farmers, garment workers, and our shared home, Planet Earth. Everyone can prosper, and we can all do our small part to change the world. Just by being conscious about the way we buy our clothes.
Fair Trade
From 2020 on Norgäte is licenced with the Fair Trade Certification, promoting honest labor conditions. Creating opportunities for our community, establishing intern & extern transparency and ensuring fair trade payment. As a result we have been working with our community, suppliers and workshops in teaching and bringing new knowledge about Fair Trade, Sustainability, Eco Friendly and Labor Ethics to all.
Certifications
We are members of the International Alpaca Association. We only use certified yarns of well-known origin and work with manufactorers that use biodegradable dyes, according to the international ecological standards allowed and tested for harmful substances for certifications like AZO, OEKO-TEX and REACH, the world’s best-known labels for textiles. With these certifications you can be certain that every component of the article has been tested for harmful substances.
WHO MADE MY CLOTHES
All Norgäte clothes and accessories are handmade in Peru. We personally know everyone in our supply chain, from those producing the fibers to those spinning our sweaters. We’re proud to provide you with the stories behind the people who make our alpaca garments. We believe that working conditions should never be a secret, and we’re proud of our transparency with our customers.
We found the perfect, direct route to affordable premium quality products by skipping the middle-men. As a small company we maintain a very lean organizational structure and precisely coordinate the supply and distribution of our products. In this way, you are guaranteed to receive your orders in mint condition, as well as at the fairest prices. We treat the environment and everyone along the way with care and respect, so we can make luxury alpaca based garments that are 100% fairtrade, eco-friendly and sustainable.
Fashion Revolution
We love fashion. But we don’t want our clothes to exploit people or destroy our planet. We strive for radical, revolutionary change. This is our dream… We are part of the Fashion Revolution international movement. Fashion Revolution campaigns for systemic reform of the fashion industry with a focus on the need for greater transparency, sustainability and ethics in the fashion supply chain. We believe that fashion can be made in a safe, clean and beautiful way, in which creativity, equality, environment and people are valued equally. Our goal is to provide ethical services, promote fair trade and ensure the production of environmentally safe alpaca clothes and accessories. We are proud to announce who made our clothes. All our apparel is handmade by talented, local craftsmen, experienced manufactorers from Peru. Like mr. Faustino and miss Carmen, miss Isabel and Ruben. People who put a lot of love and dedication in their work. Solely using highest quality materials. Getting inspired seeing their work being appreciated and worn in another part of the world.
SUSTAINABLE ALPACA FARMING
Pacomarca
We’re in It for the Long Haul. With our partners we strive for sustainable alpaca farming and wool production. PACOMARCA invests in veterinary care for more than 1 million animals and provides sustainable breeding programs for healthier, happier alpacas. To preserve their way of life and live in the best conditions possible. PACOMARCA seeks to contribute to the sustainability of alpaca production through the improvement of fiber quality. Supporting the peruvian alpaca breeders and their legacy. With that providing better income for the breeders as well.
We only work with facilities that operate under clean energy-powered manufactoring and no toxic chemicals. Using non-toxic dyes to dye the fibers. All of our yarn is tested for contaminants and we ensure that only biodegradable dyes are used. We respect and appreciate the fact that alpaca yarn comes from nature, and it’s important for us to protect our natural resources. Our alpaca yarn manufactorers currently use a closed loop water filtration system with all of the waste water being cleaned and re-used. Solar energy is used for 50% of their entire wool spinning proces in association with Pacomarca
We have the recognition of the Global Reporting Initiative for participation in their Business Program to contribute in Peru’s sustainability reporting.
